Who We Are

We are an all-volunteer non-profit organization saving lives through wilderness and mountain rescue in Western Gunnison County, CO

If you're comfortable hiking in the back country, can be available to respond for missions at any hour day or night, and are interested in being a part of a fun, dynamic, skilled, hard-working team, read on . . .

A team member is expected to be “rescue ready” at all times.  This mean that you will maintain your rescue pack and gear in a state of readiness, and can keep yourself safe and functional on your own for a minimum of 48 hours in the back country in all weather conditions.

A person who shows up consistently, has a good attitude, is rigorously honest about what he/she feels capable of doing safely in critical circumstances, and is willing to help in any capacity needed makes for a good team member.

If this sounds like you, come to our montly meetings on the first Wednessday of every month except July at 6pm, in the ambulance station on 2nd Street in Paonia.
